Can EA Sports Stop Opponents From Ruining Gameplay?

I find it very frustrating sometimes when I play other opponents online on Fifa 12 and previous Fifa games because they usually spoil the game and I find it very frustrating to take since they don’t play fairly.

What i mean by ‘spoiling’ the game is by ruining the game in situations where you are winning as well as losing.

Moments When Winning The game
There has been plenty of moments where I’m playing an online opponent and have been winning the game. The opponent basically gives up and starts scoring OG (Own goals) to try and force you to leave the game by making you get frustrated because the game is going on too long. What they’ll do is score an own goal, and wait until the Referee blows the whistle (which is about 20 – 30 seconds) then score another own goal and repeat the same process over and over again. If you were to wait in the game and let them keep doing this. It would take at least an hour for the game to be completed, maybe even more.

Sometimes also, I find it where I am in situations where I’m winning the game, and the online gaming opponent, basically plays it around their own players with no real means of wanting to score, making you try and chase and run around for the ball like headless chickens. I find this very irritating and frustrating, it’s a  complete waste a time and quite immature.

Moments When Losing The Game
There also has been many moments when I’m losing the game too, where online gaming opponents also ruing the game, even when you’re losing. There has been times where I’m losing and the opponent basically passes the ball around with his players and his goalkeeper with no real means of attacking so you don’t have a chance of getting a draw, or possible winning the game. This is also quite frustrating and very idiotic too.

 So the key question here is, Is there a way for EA Sports to implement a system where this can be avoided? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!

      It’s not breaking the rules but it’s not in the spirit of the game is it? I mean thats why before you were born we brought in the backpass rule, bet you don’t remember that one do you?

      You sound like one of those kids that will frustrate true football fans by leaving if a goal is cored by the opposing team in 5minutes or jus about doing anything else you can to ruin a wonderful game, may I suggest that if you want to play that way you go and buy call of duty there are loads of glitches and cheats to keep your tiny mind satisfied for hours.

    This should not be avoided. The ability is of each player. What has to change ishow to interpret faults. What is frustrating is when your player with the ball andan opponent comes and makes a very strong charge over your player , which is knocked down and is not marked fault. This is extremely frustrating. In the real game would be marked foul and that player would suffer a punishment.

    maybe in the self score situation, you could have a screen that comes up after each goal for the opponet asking “Was this a mistake on the other players part” then you could check yes or no then after maybe 2-3 of these, the player would get booted and forfiet the match

    Maybe EA sports should sto being so lazy and protect their top brand games before we choose something else. These kids carry on and on doing these things and when I report them nothing is done. It’s great making a good game and making it available online but you have to spend some of the 49m annua rev on checking game stats, you can see who leaves the game early or who is creating huge own goals and long games. If you can’t then maybe you could create groups that are managed by multiple teams and if they’re is a constant messing around agreement can be reached t remove the from a group called h I don’t know we actually love football and jus want to play against fair teams. Come on guys nobody wants to see a a new round of fuzzy coloured hairstyles etc, we want you to do something that allows real fans to have a fair game.

    WTF if you dnt like wath opponent is doinq quit,dont be a slave of a fake ranking sistem,if you play for points and rank that does mean a shit then you are same as peapol tht do shit like that,quit play next game or find 30 users that you like and Play against them

    Also iv played over 800 gemes in fifa 12 online and 90% of players is looking replays after scoring that is very anoing fifa need to make a fast mode Without shity replays and long waiting after game is finisht cos idiots dont want to press x

      I find it very childish to watch the players celebrating their goal and not be able to continue on that one. I just would like to skip that part and look at mine or my opponents goal to see where I did wrong or right. Also they should make the replay start a little sooner. Second: with the kits being all alike (2 times different colors of red) why can’t we choose on beforehand which kit we want to play after we know who the opponent is? Just like in PES. Also if you have simple chatting possibilities like in PES it’s easier to bond with your opponent and both have some good time whether you win or loose.

    If someone is winning and they pass the ball around to keep possession that is not “spoiling” that is strategy. I think you’re being a little soft-skinned on that. Soccer/Football is about possession and keeping the ball from your opponent. I’ve scored a late goal multiple times and hold possession as best I can to prevent the other team from scoring. As for the Own Goals/Quitting, that’s dumb (but what can you do, really?). Honestly, if they are doing that, I’d just put down the controller and do something else for a little while.

      That’s BS. Let’s say the CL finale is Chelsea – Barcelona and Chelsea scores 1-0, and then just pass the ball around for the rest of the match, everyone would be pissed. It’s too easy in FIFA to keep the ball in your defence.

      agree with kevin. and i have played a total of 600 online head to head season game and i never had some one intentionally score multiple own goals. also if somes out possessing  you for more than  10 “fifa minutes”  where you cant touch the ball that emabrsing…. go ultra attacking and anticapte where they will pass it next. i consistently win div 1 and i still cant out possesses my opponent for that long. the game doesnt let you it will eventually pass a weak ball that will get intercepted which should lead to an easy counter attack goal,

    There should be a dispute system where it allows you to quit the game but instantly report them so the moderators can reverse the results.

    i believe the worst part is the 5min rule. if you score a goal in the first 5 minutes, and they can leave without any points being added to your rank or season total. that infruiates me the most. once the game has started the game has started. the should not be any re-neg system for low lifes that cant play properly

          for once, im not going to be critical, I feel the game is moving in the right direction. we all always move on to the next game, but its 5 moths to go! It will be cool!

    For the own goals thing, just add a mercy rule. Let’s say it’s 8-0, the game ends with a win for you.

    People scoring own goals to waste time. As annoying as that might be its not hard to let them continue doing it while you go off and do something else.

    However if they are in the lead and they are keeping possession, well that is just part of football. I see teams in the real world doing it, and as frustrating as it is, it is perfectly legal to do it that way.

    So stop whining and learn how to figure out where the ball will be in 5 seconds, not where it is now, because the only way to regain possession is to intercept the pass. So when you think about it “Where is he going to pass it next?” is the most important question you need.

    I actually started scoring own goals and playing in my own half once, haha. This wasn’t a “tactic” or an attempt to force the other player to leave, but merely because the matching process put me up against someone with FARRRR superior speed, accuracy and shooting, making it impossible for me to play. I was so frustrated that I started pratting around (albeit childish…). This is such a common them in Fifa online that I don’t bother playing it online anymore!

    But yeah as many have said below, in reality, if that’s all the opponent is doing, it’s not exactly hard to take the ball off them and score yourself..
