With the popularity of home theaters, creating a personal theater where you can watch old or new movies while downing a tub of popcorn on your own solace has become a current trend. Now, Microsoft joins this bandwagon as it announces its objective of launching movies for Zune Video Marketplace.
These movies will be made available in various Microsoft platforms such as the Xbox LIVE, Windows- based PCs and Windows Phone. Therefore, all Microsoft users will certainly gain access with the films to be launched on the Zune Video Marketplace.
This makes Microsoft devices more flexible because another function can be made possible with this new service. Even people on the go who use Windows Phones can benefit from this. It is expected that majority of future customers for this may come from Windows-based PCs, which is still by far a primary contender in the computer industry.
Microsoft aims to release movies for Zune Video Marketplace not only to cater to its existing consumers but also to reinforce its over the top video streaming services. Moreover, it wants to provide this service, which is already available from some of its major competitors.
Some of the titles to be launched for the Zune Video Marketplace include Peter Weir’s The Way Back, Gun starring Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and The Resident featuring Hilary Swank and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. More titles are expected as more movies become available from the Zune Video Marketplace.
With this new service from Microsoft, it can now achieve one of its old objectives, which is turning the Xbox game console into a video streaming device. This will make the Xbox game console more versatile
since it will not be limited to playing video games anymore.
