Wii Games: Wii Play Motion Review

WII Games

Nintendo Wii revolutionized how games are packaged by putting together the Wii remote with the minigame collection. – This is the Wii Play. Undoubtedly this is one off Nintendo Wii’s biggest sellers in spite of being a not so spectacular game collection. And now, Nintendo Wii would like to add another feather to their caps with the newly packaged Wii Play Motion.

The Wii Play Motion contains the newly improved Wii remote plus packaged with a twelve mini game collection. But before you go to throw cash at the new system, it’s important to take a look at what else the Wii motion plus package comes bundled with. They may be names that you recognize or even have and they are all better on any given day than Wii Play Motion.

Red Steel 2, Wii sports resort, Flingsmash and New Carnival games are Wii games that come bundled with the Wii motion plus package. If you have spent any time playing any of these Wii games, then you know what you are in for. But if you haven’t, reading one paragraph of any of these reviews will tell you that these were games are worth exploring. So four years later, when Nintendo introduces its Wii Motion Plus package bundled with Wii Play Motion, it makes sense to take a minute to evaluate if it is a worthy purchase.

The Wii Play Motion is not awful by any means; they certainly are not jaw-dropping or trendsetting by any stretch as far as Wii games are concerned. If rock-skipping target shooting and body twisting are things that excite you then the Wii Play Motion will not disappoint. There is no question that it is a marked improvement over the 2007 Wii Play, but is it worth all the new packaging and hype that it has gotten? While these Wii games are fun, do they really warrant upgrading and will the upgrading deliver so much more over the previous version? The jury is out.

In reality, the Wii games in Wii Play Motion are hardly exciting when compared to what else is available out there. In fact it doesn’t even really utilize motion plus technology. I think we are all past the point where we don’t find shooting cartoon UFOs exciting anymore. This is especially true because we know the same company has produced visual effects that will leave you open-mouthed.

So before you go out and spend that cash, stop for a moment and think about how much better the Wii Play Motion has to be over the Wii play for you to be truly satisfied with the latest version. If on the other hand, you think of this is a great way to get your hands on the Wii motion plus controller, go back to my list of four games – pick anyone and you have a winner.
